RDK Logo

The RDK Philanthropy logo looks like a tree with a root system, a trunk, and limbs. Some limbs bear fruit and some do not. The fruit-bearing limbs are olive branches in recognition of the many references to olive trees and olives in the Bible as symbols of peace, spiritual purity, and the nation-state of Israel.

RDK Meaning

The “r” of the logo stands for Rhiza, or root, and is directly connected to the root system which travels from the bottom of the logo to the very top of the tree through the highest branch forming a lower case “r.”

The “d” of the logo stands for Dendron, or tree, and is represented by the trunk and a branch on the left side of the logo to form a lower case “d.”

The “k of the logo stands for Karpos, or fruit, and is represented by the two olive branches extending from the trunk forming a lower case “k.”

Just as 1 Corinthians 12:12 talks about unity and diversity in one body, so it is with trees. The verse says, “For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of the one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.” Likewise, RDK Philanthropy represents not only the letters r, d, and k, but all three are shown as one tree representing three parts. We cannot have a functioning tree without the roots, the branches, and the fruit, so it is important to note that when all three are in harmony the best opportunities come to fruition.
Seeing life through analogies is one way to find situational and relational clarity. Therefore, the analogy of how trees work can illuminate and make sense of how humans work. Derek Bechtel has created, developed, and integrated the "tree analogy" into his consulting and fundraising practices with success for many years and the analogy is fundamental to the RDK PHILANTHROPY approach to serving clients.
